I am extremely thrilled for the opportunity to collaborate with The Balvenie, a brand renowned for its value of ultimate craftsmanship, and creating miniatures for The Balvenie distillery was an incredibly enriching experience for me. The Makers Project aims to showcase and celebrate the intricate processes and heartfelt dedication that goes into every bottle of whisky, which is a mirror of my own commitment to creating art that tells story and honours the legacy of true artisanship.

This collaboration pays homage to The Balvenie's 5 Rare Crafts; From the farmers harvesting homegrown barley, the expertise of the Malt Men at the malting floor, to the skills of the Coppersmiths and Coopers maintaining the Balvenie's character, and finally the Malt Master's role in ensuring the consistency of the iconic whiskies.

These elements were essential to highlight the dedication and skill involved in each step of the process. My goal was to create dioramas that were not only accurate but also a true reflection of the hard work behind each craft.

To ensure accuracy, I delved into the art of single malt whisky production, relying heavily on photographs and videos. I paid special attention to the unique shapes of the pot stills to honour the coppersmiths' legacy and included scenes of coopers meticulously repairing casks to showcase their craftsmanship. This is a remarkable initiative that shines a much-deserved spotlight on the skilled craftsmen and artisans behind whisky making.
